Anonporous, seamless surface that mimics the look of granite and stone, solid-surface countertops are a consistently popular option in the kitchen because of the acrylic material‘s versatility, durability, ease of repair and (in many cases) even a 10-year warranty.
And while marble, limestone and slate are great statement-making materials in the kitchen, consumers who aren‘t partial to stone may want to look into the warm, natural look of wood, whether it‘s reclaimed, butcher-block or bamboo.
Soapstone, which was used in lab classrooms, is known for its heavy-duty durability and works well as the current trend is a honed finish (without a high gloss shine like most granite countertops). Soapstone is generally dark gray in color and may darken and/or crack over time. It‘s susceptible to stains without polish, you can scratch it with your fingernail (many people don‘t mind that) and it‘s comparable in price to granite.
Glass, wood and ceramic tiles are a few other countertop styles that should be considered when choosing a surface that will work with your kitchen design. Be sure to keep in mind how you will be using the kitchen surface when choosing your countertop.
